Project Preserverance

It all started as an unnatural storm, expanding rapidly during the following days into a devastating destructing phenomenon consuming the life energy of the planet. it is yet unknown what caused the leak to manifest, but it keeps expanding, feeding on human emotions as entire regions and cities are consumed by it's hungering expanse. The first responses of the former nations where not effective or coordinated, causing unnecessary losses that weakened the state of the surviving fractions of the world.

 

Soon, the former governments dissolved, creating a powerful worldwide council consisting by the worlds brightest minds and scientists known as the guidance and erecting huge shields to protect the major settlements and population hubs. Effective and stable the restoration zones have largely improved the situation for those inside but unfortunately they cover less than half the planetary population and most are forced to live in the hazardous exterior in fortified settlements known as the protectorates, preaching Unity and patience as the restoration project slowly but steadily expands.

 

Displeased by the slow progress and eager to offer a better solution, a part of the Guidance council separated, challenging the destructive nature of the storm and in defiance building the enormous fortress of Bastion right underneath the leak. Advancing the research on the unnatural phenomenon, they realized that the leak is expanding based on human emotions. Deciding to oppose the very human nature that brings the world's downfall, this faction named itself Misanthropy, promoting a campaign to implant those willing with sophisticated technology that suppress human emotions, effectively weakening the leak in expense of feelings.

 

With the protectorates left outside the restoration zones and the rapid expanse of Misanthropy, a large population of protectorate citizens turned desperate, unable to enter the shielded regions of guidance, asked to wait until the project expands and totally unwilling to sacrifice their emotions, these individuals teamed up to find and alternative. Caution is a rapidly growing party based on the hope that there must be another way, unable to provide a plan like the other two, so far caution is conducting it's own research with the limited available resources, putting pressure on the other two factions to support the endangered populations of the protectorates and consider alternative solutions.
